Manchester United are looking to part ways with Hannibal Mejbri during the final days of the summer transfer window.
This summer, United have shown little reluctance when it comes to permanently cutting ties with their highly-rated starlets. Recently, Will Fish joined the likes of Alvaro Fernandez, Willy Kambwala, and Maxi Oyedele to permanently exit Old Trafford.
Now, according to the Manchester Evening News, United intend to also sell Mejbri – the dynamic midfielder who moved to Manchester from Monaco in a high-profile deal worth £10 million as a 16-year-old.
The Tunisia international left United early this year to join Sevilla on loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign.
In an interview in June, Mejbri revealed he was tired of sitting on the bench last season, leading to a move to La Liga.
The 21-year-old returned to Carrington on the back of a very frustrating spell in Spain, and his start to the new campaign at United has been no better.
Erik ten Hag handed Mejbri just one start during pre-season and he is yet to name him in his matchday squad for any of the first three competitive fixtures.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Mejbri has ‘handed in a transfer request’ to force his way out of United.
The Red Devils are not too keen to stop their academy product, and as per the aforementioned source, their preference is for a straight sale unless a loan deal would ease their profitability and sustainability concerns.
Mejbri has entered the final year of his contract, meaning this is most likely United’s final opportunity to bag a transfer fee for him.
It is claimed the midfielder is attracting interest from Burnley. The Championship outfit are in the market for a new midfielder, having agreed to sell United target Sander Berge to Fulham.
Apart from Mejbri, United are also hoping to sell Scott McTominay and Jadon Sancho. Napoli are pushing to sign the Scotland international, while Juventus and Chelsea have been linked with the Englishman.
