Man United keen on €80m-rated Federico Dimarco, Manchester City also interested – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United could go head-to-head with Manchester City for Italian left-back Federico Dimarco, but it would take a gigantic offer to secure his services.

The 26-year-old has been a firm fixture at Inter Milan since returning from his loan to Hellas Verona in 2021 and has admirers across Europe – including the two Manchester heavyweights, as per InterLive.it.

The report states that it would take a “stellar offer” of at least €80 million to sign the player, as the Nerazzurri “will do everything to keep their jewel for many more years”.

Dimarco has mostly featured as wing-back for Inter, scoring five and assisting six goals last season as the San Siro giants steamrolled their way to the Serie A title.

He has already picked up a goal and an assist this term, featuring in all seven league matches so far, but is yet to make a Champions League appearance.

Bayern Munich have also been credited with serious interest in the player as a potential replacement for Alphonso Davies, who seems to be destined for Real Madrid.

The report states that Dimarco has already been the “subject of enquiries” from the Bavarian side, with manager Vincent Kompany interested in exploring a deal.

Left-back has been a problematic position for Erik ten Hag for much of his reign at Old Trafford, with his first signing Tyrell Malacia missing all of last season through injury while Luke Shaw did not fare much better with his fitness.

Neither has featured yet this season, with Diogo Dalot swapping flanks to fill in at left-back where he has struggled to find form.

Given Dimarco’s enormous price tag and the work required elsewhere in the squad, it would be a shock to see United go all out for the Italian full-back.

The Reds are thought to be very keen on out-of-favour Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell, with a January move for the Englishman on the cards.

Elsewhere, rumours abound of a reunion with young Spaniard Alvaro Fernandez Carreras, who left for Benfica in the summer.

His eye-catching performances in Portugal have led to talk of United activating the buy-back clause they built into sale amidst interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool.
