Man United and Sporting Lisbon reach “total agreement” for Ruben Amorim and two of his assistant coaches – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon have reportedly struck a full agreement for Ruben Amorim to be accompanied to Old Trafford by two of his assistant coaches.

Following Erik ten Hag’s sacking on Monday morning, Amorim emerged as United’s top choice to replace the Dutchman.

The following day, Sporting Lisbon issued a statement to the markets confirming that United approached them and expressed an interest in hiring Amorim.

Sporting also relayed that the Red Devils were willing to trigger the 39-year-old’s €10million release clause.

The other two issues that needed sorting out were when Amorim would take over the reins at United and whether or not he would be accompanied by his assistants.

It’s understood that the Portuguese tactician has a notice period that spans weeks rather than days.

United have been in talks with Sporting to try and circumvent this matter, in order to allow Amorim to join United as early as this week, before Sunday’s clash against Chelsea.

A report covered by The Peoples Person earlier today indicated that United would need to fork out a bit more money to persuade Sporting to also release Amorim’s coaches as well as to waive his notice period.

French publication Foot Mercato now reveal that United and Sporting have found middle ground and everything is set for Amorim to be formally unveiled as the next United gaffer.

The news outlet points out, “Manchester United are now very close to announcing their future coach.”

“According to our information, it is done. A total agreement was reached a few minutes ago for Ruben Amorim, but also for two of his assistants, Carlos Fernandes and Adélio Cândido.”

“The arrival of the technician is therefore on the right track, and it is hoped for the reception of Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.”

It remains to be seen what this new development means for the current crop of United coaches such as Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake.
