“He won’t take any sh-t from anyone”: What Man United stars have been told about “extremely strict” Ruben Amorim – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United players have reportedly been informed to prepare to toe the line under current Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim.

United are closing in on the official appointment of Amorim, as a replacement for Erik ten Hag, who was sacked on Monday morning.

Sporting recently released a statement to the markets confirming United’s interest in hiring the 39-year-old and triggering his release clause.

Indeed a recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that a total agreement between Sporting and United for Amorim’s switch to England is now in place. He will be accompanied to England by two of his assistant coaches – Carlos Fernandes and Adélio Cândido.

Amidst all this, Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol divulges that United players have been informed about Amorim’s imminent arrival and what potentially lies ahead.

Solhekol wrote on X, “Senior figures at Sporting believe Ruben Amorim is the new Special One and they are convinced he will be a success at United.”

“United players have been warned to expect an extremely strict head coach who will make them follow the rules. There are no egos in Amorim’s dressing room and “he will not take any sh*t from anyone”. He has a strict work ethic, is totally demanding in training and will get rid of anyone who steps out of line.”

“The atmosphere last night for what could be Amorim’s last Sporting game was described as “like a funeral”. Sporting are aware that Benfica and Porto fans are celebrating Amorim’s imminent departure. Reserve team manager Joao Pereira will be their new head coach.”

“Amorim was embarrassed and disappointed that he was filmed boarding a private jet in Lisbon in April to fly to London for talks with West Ham.”

“He has been promised the trip would be totally secret and on the flight to London he knew he could not leave Sporting in those circumstances. Despite contact and talks with other clubs, Amorim had no serious proposals to leave Sporting in the summer.”

Solhekol further notes that Amorim is set to triple his current salary of £2m net a year (about £4.15m gross).

It now remains to be seen whether Amorim will be unveiled before Sunday’s match against Chelsea. At the moment, interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy is scheduled to undertake pre-match duties on Thursday.
