Everton boss Sean Dyche aims dig at Erik ten Hag after sacking at Manchester United – Man United News And Transfer News

Everton boss Sean Dyche has made a barbed dig at former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.

After falling to a fourth league defeat of the season last Sunday to West Ham United, the decision was taken by United to fire Ten Hag.

The Dutchman is understandably said to be “devastated” by the news and has returned to his native Netherlands to escape the media glare.

Most Premier League managers have been supportive of Ten Hag, with both Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola and Liverpool’s Arne Slot praising the work of the former Ajax manager and asserting that he will be back to being successful in the near future.

With Everton sitting 16th in the Premier League table, Dyche is also feeling the heat at the moment, but this didn’t stop him sticking the knife in a little over the former United manager’s sacking.

In his pre-match press conference, The Mirror report that he said, “firstly nobody wants to see managers get the sack but eventually that’s the nature of the business and we all understand it.”

Dyche then made the comment that despite the fact he was sad to see a peer sacked, he was hardly surprised by the news.

“Results hadn’t gone to their liking and Manchester United have a high demand. The only thing I would say is that there has been a fair time scale and resources available for such a highly regarded manager to get a grip on what it is.”

Whilst it is unexpected for a manager to be so honest about the state of another manager’s performance, at least publicly, it is hard to argue with Dyche that given the time and money provided to Ten Hag, the club should be a lot higher in the league than it currently is.

The Everton boss was more supportive later on with his comments as he predicted that the Dutchman will bounce back soon.

“It’s hard though, it’s hard at any level. You’ve got to win games and eventually that’s what you get judged on but I wish him well – I’m sure there will be something else big for him.”

Ten Hag has already been linked to the Borussia Dortmund job and there will undoubtedly be future links to numerous clubs over the coming months.
