Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku open to stunning Manchester United switch – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United’s two strikers have scored three goals between them in 18 games, a clear area of concern for new head coach Ruben Amorim to solve.

Rasmus Hojlund has cut a frustrated figure up top in recent games and has managed only two goals while summer recruit Joshua Zirkzee has only one goal to his name while struggling to justify the club’s €42.5 million outlay.

There have been murmurs of an impending exit for the former Bologna star but INEOS hope that the ex-Sporting Lisbon manager can bring out the best out of the duo, just like he did with Viktor Gyokeres in Lisbon.

If performances do not improve, the Swede will be a definite target but with so many other suitors in the race, the Red Devils need to cast their net wide.

Nkunku interest

And as relayed by The Peoples Person, Chelsea’s top-scorer this season, Christopher Nkunku has emerged as a shock target and the Blues are open to a sale as long as they recoup the fee they paid for the Frenchman.

Now, Football Insider have revealed that the striker with 10 goals to his name this term is open to a move to Old Trafford as he looks to earn regular minutes.

“Chelsea’s “unhappy” forward Christopher Nkunku would be attracted to a potential Man United switch, sources have told Football Insider.

“It is believed the France international could take matters into his own hands next year as he is “unhappy” to play a backup role to the club’s other forwards.

“Sources say Nkunku would be attracted to a potential Old Trafford move should the opportunity arise, with the player keen to play regular first-team football.”

Nkunku open to United move

Despite being Chelsea’s top-scorer, Enzo Maresca has handed the 26-year-old only one start in the Premier League, and he has totaled only 154 minutes of action in the top-flight.

Maresca has preferred Nicolas Jackson up top instead and considering the Stamford Bridge side’s attacking array of talent, Nkunku could be better served moving elsewhere.

But whether the Manchester giants have £52 million to spend in January remains to be seen. Maybe a loan approach makes more sense from a financial point of view.

Chelsea and United have exchanged players in the recent past with Jadon Sancho heading to London in the summer of 2024 while Mason Mount headed to Manchester last year.
