Man United target Christopher Nkunku ready to force through a move in January if his minutes at Chelsea do not increase – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United’s two strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have combined to score only three goals in all competitions so far this season.

Both Erik ten Hag and interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy failed to get the duo firing and now, the onus is on new head coach Ruben Amorim.

There have been lots of murmurs regarding a move for Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres but there are lots of other interested parties in the race.

Recently, as relayed by The Peoples Person, the Red Devils are interested in Chelsea top-scorer Christopher Nkunku, who is unhappy with the lack of minutes.

Nkunku unhappy

He has scored 10 times in all competitions but has only one in the Premier League with Enzo Maresca handing him only 154 minutes of action in the league with Nicolas Jackson the preferred option.

The Blues are reluctant to move on the Frenchman but the decision could be taken out of their hands if Football Insider are to be believed.

The 26-years-old could push for an exit this January if his minutes do not improve and Maresca will be aware of the pitfalls of keeping an unhappy star on the bench.

“Christopher Nkunku could push to leave Chelsea after growing unhappy with his lack of game time, sources have told Football Insider.

“There is a feeling that his ten goals and one assist in 17 games across all competitions should have warranted more trust and game time than he has received.

Ready to force through a move

“As a result, Nkunku is set to demand an increase in playing time in Enzo Maresca’s side or he will look for a move to a club who can guarantee a starting place.”

Chelsea would like to keep a hold of the former RB Leipzig star considering his form in cup competitions and the fact that they are only an injury away from starting Nkunku.

His contract with the London side is valid until 2029 which makes a permanent exit unlikely, unless someone coughs up the same amount Chelsea paid for his services in 2023.

A loan deal would work nicely for the Red Devils and it will be interesting to see how Nkunku fares before January. INEOS should keep a close watch and pounce if the opportunity presents itself.
