Ruben Amorim has not asked Manchester United for reinforcements in January – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United’s decision to replace Erik ten Hag with Ruben Amorim marked the dawn of a new era at the club with the new Portuguese head coach trusted to take charge of a side that hasn’t won a Premier League title for over a decade.

Amorim’s fresh approach will mean United have to adapt tactically to their new boss’ ideas, with his favoured 3-4-3 system not one regularly used by his predecessor.

Therefore, many predicted Amorim would require a hasty revamp of his first team squad in order to ensure his reign goes as planned at the Theatre of Dreams.

However, it’s likely the 39-year-old will be spending the remainder of his first season in charge assessing the current crop before adding to his lot next summer.

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has claimed Amorim has made no suggestion to the board he is looking for reinforcements in the January window.

Solhekol posted on his X account that Amorim is “focused on working with, and developing, the players in his Manchester United squad” and that “he has not made any requests about buying players in January.”

This “includes Portugal-based (Viktor) Gyokeres, (Geovany) Quenda and (Tomas) Araujo,” says Solhekol, leaving Amorim to work with current crop of stars.

Despite Amorim’s acceptance to work with the players at his disposal it will be a surprise to not see him add his numbers at the end of the campaign after deciding who is fit for purpose going into his first full season.

The Portuguese coach has kicked off his reign with a frustrating draw in his first outing against Ipswich Town and an entertaining win against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League.

Amorim has already showed flashes of his coaching talent, displaying tactical nous to meddle with the team that found itself behind to the Norwegian Champions on Thursday before eventually running out as 3-2 victors.

United will be expected to win their weekend fixture with struggling Everton visiting Old Trafford on what will Amorim’s first Premier League game in front of home support.

It’s another opportunity for the current squad to earn a much-needed three points and show their new boss they are desperate to be a part of his plans for the rest of the season and beyond.
