Ruben Amorim has reportedly identified three “Galactico” style signings for Manchester United to secure to help the Portuguese coach continue to mould his new squad into a title-winning force.
As relayed by TEAMTALK, the report reveals Amorim has implored Old Trafford officials to target Victor Osimhen, Ronald Araujo and Tyler Dibling in 2025, believing each player will provide a significant upgrade in their respective positions.
Osimhen, 25, is currently on loan at Galatasaray after being deemed surplus to requirements by Antonio Conte at Napoli, with the Italian manager replacing the Nigerian forward with former United man, Romelu Lukaku.
10 goals and 4 assists in 14 games for the Turkish giants underscores that Osimhen remains an attacking force to be reckoned with, however. And the 25-year-old’s direct style, with excellent physicality and pace, lends itself to the profile of striker Amorim has often used throughout his coaching career.
Goals have been a source of concern for the Red Devils this season with only four sides in the Premier League having scored fewer times than United. Osimhen would be targeted to provide an immediate solution to this issue.
Amorim’s trademark 3-4-3 system, naturally, relies on three central defenders. Ostensibly, this should be a position of strength at Old Trafford given the heavy investment in defence over the past few years, but there is a lack of pace in the backline with only Leny Yoro able to cover large spaces with ease.
Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and Jonny Evans are all prone to struggling with speedy forwards, despite their talents on the ball.
Furthemore, Maguire, Lindelof, and Evans could all realistically leave Old Trafford in the next six months, reinforcing the need for the club to once again invest in central defence.
Araujo – Barcelona’s imposing captain and leader of the defencer – would provide an immediate solution to this issue, with the Uruguayan international physically dominant on and and off the ball. He is also comfortable in possession, as is a prerequisite to play at Camp Nou.
And finally, Dibling is described as of “special interest” to Amorim, with the 21-year-old winger having “blown away” United’s head coach with his performances for a struggling Southampton side this season.
Amorim is believed to have demanded the club target Dibling as early as January to “get ahead of his other suitors” with a host of Premier League clubs having taken notice of the tricky winger’s excellent form.
The report relayed by TEAMTALK reveals the three-man shopping list will set United back in the region of €200 million (£166m). And with finances set to be restricted at Old Trafford due to the acute pressure of Financial Fair Play regulations, it remains to be seen whether club officials will be able to meet the demands of their new head coach.
