Outgoing Manchester United senior men’s first-team doctor Jim Moxon is set to join Brighton and Hove Albion, reports The Telegraph.
Earlier in the week, it emerged that Moxon alongside head of sports medicine Gary O’Driscoll have made the decision to part ways with the club.
O’Driscoll joined United in September 2023 after 15 years at Arsenal, in what was regarded as a big coup for the Red Devils.
It’s understood that O’Driscoll drove a series of positive changes across the medical department and laid the foundation for further improvements in the future.
Moxon on the other hand, originally joined United on an interim basis two years ago to fill in for Steve McNally, who exited in February 2023 after more than 16 years of service.
Moxon’s role was made permanent shortly after. It’s understood that Moxon’s decision to depart United was motivated by a desire to pursue another opportunity elsewhere and now, The Telegraph have shed further light on this.
“Telegraph Sport understands that Moxon – who has been United’s senior men’s first-team doctor for the past two years – is in line to join Brighton, who have declined to comment.”
“It is unclear when Moxon is scheduled to make the move, given it is understood that he and O’Driscoll will stay at United for a period to ensure there is no disruption in medical support during the final months of the season as the club search for replacements.”
It was stated that the departures of O’Driscoll and Moxon are not related to the latest round of staff redundancies that were recently announced by the club.
The exits of both men are also not as a result of the injury crisis United are currently dealing with.
Ruben Amorim is without several payers through injury. Lisandro Martinez has been ruled out for the rest of the season while Amad is in a race against time to feature competitively before the campaign comes to a close. Luke Shaw also remains a long-term absentee.
Mason Mount recently returned to training as did Manuel Ugarte. Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro, Kobbie Mainoo, Jonny Evans, Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton remain sidelined.
