Ruben Amorim is on the hunt to add more goals to his Manchester United frontline in the summer and has reportedly drawn up a four-man striker shortlist.
In recent years, United have invested heavily in striking options but with very limited success. Rasmus Højlund – who arrived at Old Trafford for £72m from Atalanta in 2023 – has scored just 24 times in 82 appearances, while Joshua Zirkzee – who signed from Bologna last summer for £36.5m – has found the net a measly six times so far during his debut campaign.
Hoping to right those wrongs, Ineos, the co-owners of the club, are looking at four names according to Sky Sports Germany. Florian Plettenburg posted on X: “Manchester United are looking to strengthen their attack in the summer and are intensively scouting the market. Talks have already begun.”
But who are the four names linked with a move to Old Trafford? Manchester Evening News has everything you need to know.
The 22-year-old Frenchman, who joined the Bundesliga outfit from PSG last summer, has been compared to a mix of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar. He’s enjoying a breakthrough season, scoring 19 times and providing nine assists in 38 appearances in all competitions.
The 21-year-old is highly sought after, attracting interest from a host of Europe’s biggest clubs including United’s Premier League rivals Arsenal. The Slovenian has scored 16 goals across 35 games so far this season.
The 26-year-old, who has experience of playing under Ruben Amorim during his time in Portugal, is under contract until 2028 though there is a reported ‘gentleman’s agreement’ that could see him leave in the summer. He has scored a whopping 40 goals in 41 appearances this season, on top of last season’s tally of 43 in 50, which has seen him attract a number of suitors including the Red Devils.
The 26-year-old, who made the shock loan move to Turkey last summer, has continued his frightening goal scoring form, netting 20 times in 22 Turkish Super Lig games. TalkSport has already confirmed United’s interest in his services, meanwhile the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham are also rumoured for his signature.
