Manchester United are reportedly preparing to let eight players leave the club in the summer transfer window to aid Ruben Amorim’s rebuilding of the playing squad.
Amorim, who took over from Erik ten Hag in November, requires funds to overhaul the lacklustre team he inherited, potentially leading to a mass departure of players who don’t fit his vision.
United are preparing for life without Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen, both of whom are expected to depart as free agents when their contracts expire, along with Tom Heaton and Jonny Evans. Standard Sport reports that Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, Antony, and Marcus Rashford could also be heading for the exit before the start of next season.
The latter two will be available to leave following their loan stints at Real Betis and Aston Villa respectively, with Villa having the option to purchase Rashford for £40million. With one year remaining on his £350,000-a-week contract, United are reportedly eager to remove Casemiro from their payroll.
The Red Devils are said to value Mainoo at £70m, which would provide pure profit in the struggle to comply with PSR, given his status as a homegrown player, reports the Express.

The report also suggests that Amorim is eager for new signings ahead of his first full season in charge, with Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham among his targets.
Bellingham, the 19-year-old younger brother of Real Madrid and England star Jude Bellingham, has become an integral part of the team at the Stadium of Light over the past two seasons.
Sunderland’s bid for Premier League promotion could bolster their bargaining power, especially as Bellingham is contracted until 2028. However, the England Under-21 international, who transferred from Birmingham City in 2023, is reportedly drawing attention from a number of major clubs.
If Sunderland fail to secure promotion, they could be at risk of losing Bellingham, with Brentford, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur also rumoured to be interested.
Amorim is believed to be prioritising the recruitment of a new striker to compete with Rasmus Hojlund, given United’s struggles to score goals. Another addition to the attack, perhaps a winger or advanced midfielder better suited to one of Amorim’s two No.10 positions than his current options, should also be considered.
The Old Trafford giants will need further reinforcements in central defence, following the departures of Lindelof and Evans and with Harry Maguire’s contract nearing its end.
Amorim will also be looking for a natural right-wing-back, having addressed the left side of his intricate 3-4-3 formation with Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu in January.
However, funds are limited, and the necessity to offload players to create room cannot be overstated.
