Latest Manchester United transfer news as Matheus Cunha’s proposed move to Old Trafford takes a positive step ahead of the summer
Manchester United are now leading the race to sign Wolves star Matheus Cunha in the summer transfer window, according to reports.
Cunha has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time this season with Ruben Amorim keen to bolster his attacking options. The Brazilian has impressed at Wolves since moving from Atletico Madrid and was tipped to move on in January.
He stayed at Molineux and committed his future to the club, helping them stay out of the relegation zone this season. Despite signing a new contract, Cunha is expected to be part of an expensive deal in the summer transfer window.
It’s been reported that United are getting closer to agreeing personal terms with Cunha. The Daily Mail has claimed that the 25-year-old has been convinced by Amorim’s project at Old Trafford, with the Portuguese a big fan of Cunha.
The United boss has publicly praised his versatility and goals output. Amorim and Cunha were spotted in conversation after Sunday’s Premier League game between United and Wolves, before being spotted in conversation again in the tunnel.
Cunha will cost United £62.5million with his release clause at Wolves meaning he won’t come cheap. Fabrizio Romano has followed the report by stating that personal terms are now being discussed with United and the player’s entourage.
Arsenal and Newcastle have also been linked with signing Cunha meaning United will have to act quickly to fend off interest elsewhere. However, there is growing optimism that he will bolster Amorim’s attack for the 2025/25 season.
Alongside Cunha, United are also keen to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town. The striker has a £30million release clause at Portman Road, which will be activated once relegation is confirmed.
