Ruben Amorim believes Chido Obi won’t be overawed when he makes his full Manchester United debut today.

Amorim has made eight changes to his starting team to face Brentford, but he has still named a strong line-up and the squad is full of senior players at the Gtech Community Stadium this afternoon.

Obi made his debut from the bench against Tottenham in February and he’s been handed his first start for the club against Brentford. The 17-year-old will lead the attack, and Mason Mount and Alejandro Garnacho will support him from the No.10 roles.

Amorim has made changes with the second leg against Athletic Bilbao in mind, and he explained his team selection when he spoke to Sky Sports ahead of kick-off.

“Is really hard, because we also want to improving our table. We want to win games. In this league, it’s really important for us, but we have to make a choice,” said Amorim.

“And it’s not about the players you put in these kind of games, it’s putting all these players together. And that is hard, not just for me but also for the players. But, in this moment, I think everyone can understand our choice.”

Amorim was asked about Obi and said: “I think we need to focus a lot on our young players. For me, it’s not a massive game for Chido. I know that it’s important for Chido, but I don’t want a lot of pressure on Chido, I just want him to do what he knows. He played really well in those minutes against Wolverhampton.

“He’s improving a lot, and then Newcastle, the rotation. I feel that he’s ready to cope with the demands of the Premier League. Amass has already shown that he’s ready, Tyler, the same. It will be tough on them because this team is really strong in front, with a lot of pace, but they are improving, so they are ready.”

Amorim continued: “I think it’s important for us to perform, and then again, I already talk about that in the last games. We had situations to win the game. If you look, even the last game in the Europa League against Athletic, the big chances of the opponent was a little bit our fault, the way we build up.

“So we try to do everything at the same point, so we need to be focused, don’t lose balls like we lost against Bournemouth and Athletic. So, in these small details, we need to do better. We are creating chances, we need to score.”
