Noussair Mazraoui is considered “the best signing” Manchester United have made in years – Man United News And Transfer News

Morocco full-back Noussair Mazraoui is reportedly considered a top signing at Manchester United.

United’s former manager Erik ten Hag took a lot of flak for his penchant for signing former Ajax players, especially since the majority of his transfer decisions didn’t pan out as hoped.

However, Ruben Amorim is now reaping the rewards of Ten Hag showing confidence in Mazraoui and bringing him to Old Trafford from Bayern Munich.

According to The National‘s Andy Mitten, the Dutchman “pushed hardest” to sign his former Ajax full-back from Bayern at the start of the season.

Ten Hag departed mid-season, but his signing has played an influential role under Amorim.

The Netherlands-born defender has been the most consistent figure at the back for the Red Devils, having impressed in a number of positions in 55 appearances across all competitions. Accordingly, he has drawn comparisons to United great Denis Irwin.

It is claimed that “multiple insiders on the football side at United say Mazraoui is the best signing United have made for years.”

The 27-year-old, who has been used as a full-back, centre-back, and wing-back this term, is one of United’s most reliable players, as he is calm under pressure and secure in possession with both feet.

Mazraoui’s tactical intelligence and athleticism have also left his teammates and coaches in awe.

“When you consider that he’s played for Ajax and Bayern Munich, there’s no ego at all with him,” one source told The National. “We’ve been crying out for players like that.”

Ahead of the Europa League final on Wednesday, Amorim has been handed a major injury boost. Both Leny Yoro and Diogo Dalot have been declared fit and available to face Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao. Luke Shaw has also regained his confidence and spark and could play in different positions in defence.

Still, it is fair to assume Mazraoui’s place in the starting lineup is safe, with the only question being, much to Ange Postecoglou’s frustration, where the Moroccan star will be deployed to nullify Spurs’ attack.
