Manchester United could announce the signing of Matheus Cunha in next 24 hours – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United could reportedly confirm the arrival of Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha as early as Sunday, after their meeting with Aston Villa at Old Trafford.

It’s an open secret that United are on the hunt for attacking reinforcements after another difficult season.

In addition to signing a striker, Ruben Amorim is also believed to be keen on a player capable of playing in the No. 10 role, with Cunha his top target.

Cunha has enjoyed a brilliant campaign, scoring an impressive 15 goals and providing an additional six assists in 32 Premier League appearances.

Last week, Fabrizio Romano explained that United were nearing an agreement to sign Cunha.

It was later revealed that the Brazilian forward is expected to join the Red Devils at the conclusion of the season, right after the final round of top-flight fixtures.

Now, Pete Hall and Mark Douglas of The i Paper note that a deal for Cunha is on the brink of getting over the line and it could be made public sooner than most fans would have anticipated.

“Matheus Cunha’s £62.5m deal is all but done, The i Paper understands, and could be confirmed as early as Sunday, after United’s season finale at home against Aston Villa, or early next week.”

After losing the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur and missing out on European football ahead of next season, there might have been concerns that Cunha could potentially make a dramatic U-turn and reject a move to United. However, this doesn’t appear to be the case.

According to Sky Sports, the 25-year-old “would still be happy” to join United as he believes they’re still one of the biggest clubs in the world despite their current woes.

He has not been put off by the fact that Amorim’s men are in 16th place, two spots below Wolves in 14th.

It’s understood Cunha “loves United” even as he continues to attract interest from the likes of Arsenal, Aston Villa and the Saudi Pro League.
