Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has responded to Matheus Cunha’s signing amid growing uncertainty over the attacking midfielder’s future at the club.
Cunha was announced as United’s first signing on the first day of the summer transfer window. His £62.5m release clause was triggered by United and the Brazilian has signed a five-year contract, with the option of another year at Old Trafford.
United released a statement and said: “Manchester United has reached an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the signing of Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian forward’s signing is subject to visa and registration.”
Cunha will arrive in Manchester for pre-season and hopefully hit the ground running for Ruben Amorim’s team. However, one player who could leave United before the new season gets underway is Fernandes.
Reports suggest that Fernandes is seriously contemplating leaving the club in a staggering £100m transfer but no decision seems to be made yet. Despite the growing speculation surrounding his future, Fernandes has responded to United’s first new face through the door.
