Fabrizio Romano offers key update on Casemiro’s future – Man United News And Transfer News

Fabrizio Romano has offered an eye-opening update regarding the future of Manchester United midfielder Casemiro.

Having struggled through a troubling campaign last season, rumours have been continuously circulating about the Brazilian’s future at Old Trafford.

While it appeared as if Casemiro was returning to form during the pre-season, he has since produced some troublesome performances, including a shambolic showing against Liverpool. In fact, he was largely at fault for two of the three goals conceded on the day.

Although transfer rumours regarding Casemiro circulated throughout the summer, famed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided a key update on Casemiro’s future to put many of the rumours to rest.

“It’s not a secret that Man United were open to selling Casemiro this summer, but there was never a concrete proposal on the table to help make a deal happen,” Romano explained to CaughtOffside.

“Now, we’ve had rumours about Galatasaray and Casemiro because the Turkish market is still open and Galatasaray are always very active,” he continued.

But while Casemiro has been strongly linked to Galatasaray, with Man United reportedly agreeing to the move, Romano has affirmed that the deal will not advance.

“What I’m told is that in this moment, the clear message is that Casemiro is going nowhere, because Manchester United already sold Scott McTominay and have no intention to lose one more midfielder.”

“The expectation I have is for Casemiro is to leave Manchester United in 2025, and we will see if it’s going to be January or in the summer. It will depend on opportunities.”

Still, even though Romano is of the opinion that Casemiro will remain at Old Trafford for the near future, there does seem to be a possibility that he could consider departing the club. According to ESPN, Casemiro will only consider departing United on the condition that he is told that he does not have a future with the club.

While United signed Manuel Ugarte one day before the transfer deadline, it remains to be seen how well he will integrate into the squad. Also, having only one holding midfielder in the squad would be insufficient, hence the need to retain Casemiro.

According to Roy Keane and Gary Neville, however, United should not write off Casemiro just yet. In their minds, moving Casemiro up the pitch could assist him, given his solid passing and keen eye for goalscoring opportunities, especially when winning headers from set pieces.

No matter whether Casemiro stays or leaves, however, manager Erik ten Hag will need to do some deep introspection and change his strategy accordingly. After all, United have consistently underperformed over the course of the last season, with or without Casemiro on the pitch.
