Leny Yoro turned down Real Madrid due to Manchester United’s staggering offer – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United’s superior financial offer played a part in Leny Yoro snubbing Real Madrid, as per reports.

United have had a very frustrating start to the new season, managing just one win in their first four competitive games. This has overshadowed all the excitement regarding their transfer business during the recently concluded summer transfer window.

The INEOS-led recruitment team made five senior signings this summer, but Yoro’s arrival from Lille raised the most eyebrows.

Considering United had no Champions League football to offer, not many expected one of the most sought-after centre-backs in world football to move to Old Trafford.

Billed as the Kylian Mbappe of centre-backs, the young Frenchman attracted interest from Madrid, PSG, and Liverpool after establishing himself as one of Ligue 1’s best defenders at 18 due to his incredible physicality, positional awareness, and technical security in possession.

In mid July, United accelerated their efforts to strengthen their backline and agreed an initial transfer fee of €62 million alongside a further €8m in add-ons with Lille.

Los Blancos were believed to be in pole position for Yoro, but the Red Devils swiftly convinced the player to pick their project rather than wait for the Spanish giants.

According to Madrid-based newspaper Marca, Yoro “turned his back”, opting for the Premier League giants’ “money”. It is said United offered €9.5m in wages, while the La Liga outfit only committed to €2.5m.

It is added that Madrid’s response to Yoro’s rejection was: “We’re doing our thing, when another like him appears, perfect. In the meantime, what we have is enough.” They decided against signing another centre-back this summer after missing out on Yoro.

Regardless of how United lured Yoro to Manchester, there is no denying that INEOS made a statement by going all out for a young defender with immense potential.

The ex-Lille man made a promising debut for United during pre-season, but he was quickly sidelined after suffering an injury against Arsenal on the tour.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Yoro, who underwent surgery at the beginning of August, has made a crucial step in his recovery, as he no longer needs support while walking.
