Official: Manchester United confirm major injury boost as Rasmus Hojlund returns to training – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have confirmed the return of Rasmus Hojlund to training ahead of the club’s weekend clash at Selhurst Park vs. Crystal Palace.

Hojlund is yet to play a single minute of action during his second season at United after he picked up a hamstring injury in July.

The striker was forced to watch as his side managed two wins and as many losses in their four opening top-flight fixtures of the 2024/25 season.

He was also not available to Erik ten Hag for selection as United ran riot in a 7-0 battering of League One outfit Barnsley on Tuesday evening at Old Trafford.

Hojlund sustained the setback during United’s 2-1 pre-season defeat to Arsenal. On that occasion, the Dane opened the scoring before he was withdrawn just moments later with a hamstring issue.

It was mentioned that he would be sidelined for six weeks as he underwent his rehabilitation.

A few days ago, it emerged that midfielder Mason Mount – who was also ruled out for several weeks with a hamstring problem – returned to training. United have now confirmed the Mount news, while also relaying that Hojlund participated in sessions at Carrington with his teammates.

United note, “Both Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund trained with the group at Carrington, with our photographers capturing the pair working hard to prove they are ready to return to action.”

“After making progress with his rehabilitation, our new no.9 will be itching to get back with our free-flowing team scoring 10 times in our last two fixtures.”

In Hojlund’s absence, Ten Hag deployed Bruno Fernandes and Mount as United’s most advanced players in the first two matches vs. Fulham and Brighton and Hove Albion respectively.

The Dutchman then resorted to using new signing Joshua Zirkzee in the number nine position. Zirkzee showed glimpses of his brilliance, especially in terms of holding up the ball and linking up play but missed a number of clear-cut opportunities against Liverpool and Southampton.

In the Carabao Cup meeting with Barnsley, Ten Hag tasked Marcus Rashford with the responsibility of leading the line for United and the England international bagged a brace.
