Napoli have reportedly refused to meet Jadon Sancho‘s requested salary amid transfer links with the Manchester United forward.

Sancho, 25, spent last season on loan at Premier League rivals Chelsea but – despite their £25million obligation to make that move permanent – the Blues opted to pay a £5million penalty fee to send him back to M16.

However, it is believed that the former Borussia Dortmund winger does not have a long-term future under Ruben Amorim and is expected to leave United once more. Napoli are reportedly among those interested in Sancho, who is said to be open to a move to Italy, even if it means lowering his wage demands.

And according to Sky Sport Italy, Napoli are leading the race to sign him. They claim that Sancho’s preference is to join Antonio Conte’s team, as they were the first side to express an interest this summer.

But Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has appeared to suggest a switch to the Italian club will not happen, unless he lowers his existing demands.

“Our offer is clear, we will not pay Sancho’s requested salary,” he said via journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu on X.

The Manchester Evening News understands that Sancho’s representative, Emeka Obasi, has explored potential opportunities in Germany following his time at Dortmund – with his most recent spell coming during the second half of the 2023/2024 season – but a move to the Bundesliga is no longer being considered.

United want to secure a similar fee to the one that was agreed with Chelsea, in the region of £25million, despite what was a disappointing spell in west London.

Sancho scored five goals and provided 10 assists in 41 matches for the Blues, who ended the season winning the UEFA Conference League and finishing in the top-four.
