United claimed a 2-1 win over West Ham at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, with Bruno Fernandes scoring both goals in the United States. It was United’s first match during their tour across the Atlantic, with further matches against Bournemouth and Everton on the horizon.
Amad and Ugarte both started for United in the win over the Hammers on Saturday night. After the game, it was Amad who sent a message to his teammate to show his appreciation.
In a post on his Instagram story, Amad posted a video which featured Ugarte showing his skills before threading a pass through the West Ham defence for Amad’s ruled-out goal. In the caption on the video, Amad wrote one word which read: “Magicien,” which translates to “magician”.

Both Amad and Ugarte will be looking to feature again for United when they take on Bournemouth on Wednesday night in their next pre-season fixture. The duo played key roles in United’s best moments last season under head coach Ruben Amorim and will be looking to do so again when the new campaign gets underway in August.
If Amad is to do the same again this season, it appears that it will be from a different position, with the Ivorian playing at wingback against West Ham and Leeds so far this summer. United will start the new Premier League season on August 17 when they host Arsenal at Old Trafford.
It remains to be seen whether Amorim will include Amad and Ugarte in the starting line-up, with decisions still to be made including whether or not to hand starts to new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
