Manchester United have been warned that, in order to sell Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea this summer, they may be forced to wait on their Premier League rivals.
The Manchester Evening News reported, earlier on this summer, that Ruben Amorim had informed the 21-year-old he could leave the club with this following Garnacho‘s complaint over a lack of time afforded in the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham in May.
Training away from the senior squad preparing for the 2025/2026 campaign, Serie A champions Napoli and English rivals Chelsea have been linked with the most interest, but neither have made a move so far.
An update on the saga from journalist Fabrizio Romano had outlined the Blues would be changing that fact shortly, claiming the London club were lining up a bid for both United’s young star and Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig. Garnacho ‘liked’ the social media post.
Romano later stated on X the Argentine has given “total priority” to Chelsea following promising initial talks.
And now the reporter, speaking on YouTube, has given further insight into this potential cross-Premier League switch and how at present it is being held up by other deals.
It is explained how players need to leave Stamford Bridge to generate space in the squad and income that will fund further spending on top of Chelsea’s £243million haul so far this summer.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Lesley Ugochukwu, Armando Broja and Carney Chukwuemeka are four sales that must go through before they begin to revisit incoming transfers. That said, luckily for United, and Garnacho, the hint is that progress is underway for all four players to move on.
Dewsbury-Hall is claimed to be closing in on a move to Everton, Ugochukwu and Broja are both leaning towards newly-promoted Burnley and Chukwuemeka is likely to return to Borussia Dortmund, where he spent the second half of last season on loan.
So these four hurdles may not be in the way much longer for United and Garnacho to get what they desire from the summer window.
