Following the agreement with RB Leipzig for Benjamin Sesko, Manchester United have decided to focus on outgoings for the time being.
One player directly impacted by the Slovenian’s arrival is Rasmus Hojlund. The Dane, who managed a meagre four Premier League goals all season last time out, could find himself on his way out of the club.
The 22-year-old has made it clear that he would like to stay and fight for his place, but Ruben Amorim is likely not too convinced and a move away beckons.
AC Milan are reportedly in pole position with the Denmark international reluctantly open to a return to the Serie A.
AC Milan in pole
The Rossoneri would prefer a loan deal with an option to buy, just like the deal INEOS agreed with Barcelona for Marcus Rashford. But the Red Devils were eyeing a permanent solution.
But as per the reliable Gianluca Di Marzio, the 20-time English league champions have finally relented, and have agreed to the loan with an option formula.
Milan are currently waiting for the United No.9’s green light before proceeding.
“Manchester United have opened the door for Rasmus Højlund on loan with an option to buy .
Loan with an option
“As we told you in recent days, AC Milan are looking for a striker to bring to the Rossoneri, and have identified the former Atalanta player from Denmark as one of the potential additions to the squad.
“Important news has arrived from England today: United have agreed to a loan deal with an option for Højlund, and Milan — given the deal’s terms — are currently in pole position to bring him into the team. However, the player’s approval for his departure is still pending.”
It will be interesting to see how Rasmus Hojlund will react to being pushed out and the price United eventually ask from the Italian giants.
Serie A football will suit the ex-Atalanta ace, and hopefully, he can regain his form and help United earn a decent fee from his eventual sale.
