Patrick Dorgu sends five-word message after Ruben Amorim decision for Man United win

Patrick Dorgu has made his feelings clear after Manchester United ended a three-game winless run by securing a crucial 2-1 success at Crystal Palace on Sunday

Patrick Dorgu has thanked the Manchester United fans for their support, after the Reds returned to winning ways against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon. Ruben Amorim’s side came from behind to record a much-needed 2-1 victory at Selhurst Park.

Jean-Philippe Mateta put Palace ahead in the first half, but United responded after the break to turn the game on on its head. Joshua Zirkzee levelled in the 54th minute with a smart finish before Mason Mount scored the winner just past the hour mark.

It’s a result that moves United into seventh in the Premier League table, having collected 21 points from their opening 13 matches. They sit just three points behind third-place Chelsea.

Speaking after United’s win in south London, Dorgu took to Instagram to send a message to the supporters. Alongside an image of him in action, the left-back said: “Always thankful for the support [red love heart emoji].”

After starting Monday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Everton, Dorgu dropped down to the bench for the trip to Palace. However, he still managed to get some game time, replacing Amad Diallo in stoppage-time.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the 2025/26 season, saving members £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games this season, an increase of up to 100 more.

Amorim decided to go for Diogo Dalot at left wing-back with Amad on the other side. Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Luke Shaw made up the back-three with Mount, Bryan Mbeumo and Zirkzee up front.

Amorim’s decision came after comments he made in a press conference regarding Dorgu and the contrast in performances for his country, Denmark, and United.

“When I see them training they are doing so much better than in games,” Amorim said. “Then Patrick, when I see him playing for the national team, he’s scored a great goal against Scotland, the decision that he made under pressure was completely different to the decision(‘s) he’s making in our team.

“You can feel the anxiety every time Patrick touches the ball. “I can feel it, the anxiety.”

It was Bruno Fernandes who stole the show against Palace, assisting both Zirkzee and Mount as United recorded a first win since October. Casemiro started alongside him in midfield with Senne Lammens completing the XI in goal.

Reflecting on his side’s win, Amorim cut a relieved figure. When asked if he said anything at half-time to prompt a reaction from his United team, the Portuguese said: “No, we just wanted everyone to understand the game.

“I felt in the last 10 minutes of the first half that the opponent was struggling, and that they would struggle in the second half. We had that feeling, and we needed to do something to change the way we were playing.

“We tried to change little things in the game – the intensity and the quality in the way we connect, especially Josh [Zirkzee] – he improved a lot the way we played.”

“It was massive,” Fernandes, meanwhile told MUTV, when asked how big the win was for United. “We needed the three points after the performance and the result we had last week.

“We needed a response very quickly. I think first half was not great for us, but the second half was a very big response.”
