Grace Clinton scores as United women star in England’s 2-1 win over South Africa – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United Women’s Grace Clinton kept up her fine start to the season with a goal for England in their friendly win over South Africa.

She was one of three United players to represent their nation in the match as England ran out 2-1 winners at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

The English had 13 shots to the visitor’s nine and dominated the ball with a huge 71% of possession.

Clinton has had a wonderful start to the season, scoring three goals including in her side’s last game in a 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 21 year old ghosted into the box in the 23rd minute of play to expertly head home a cross from her United teammate Maya Le Tissier on what was only her fourth appearance for her country.

She was given an impressive score of 7.7 on Sofascore, playing 62 minutes of the match before being replaced by her United colleague Ella Toone.

She had 42 touches, completing an economical 85% of her passes and connecting with both her long-ball attempts.

Clinton was also combative in the centre of the park, competing in 10 ground duels, winning six of them.

Fellow Red Devil Maya Le Tissier also impressed at right-back for the Lionesses.

She was given a 7 for her performance and registered an assist for Clinton’s goal with a sumptuous cross from the byline.

She had a quiet night defensively as she was only required to make one clearance and one tackle.

Le Tissier was heavily involved in the build-up though as she had 87 touches and completed 88% of her passes.

Despite only getting half an hour of action, Ella Toone also contributed well with a rating of 7.1.

She took great care of the ball, completing 93% of her passes and had one shot on target and one shot off target during her limited time on the pitch.

Toone also battled hard, winning three out of her four ground duels.

United Women return to action this weekend when they take on Arsenal in a mouth-watering clash this Sunday at 12.30 UK time.
