Roy Keane tears into current crop of Man United players following 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town – Man United News And Transfer News

Former Manchester United player and now Sky Sports pundit, Roy Keane, has torn into Ruben Amorim’s players after their 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town.

An evening that promised so much at Portman Road got off to the perfect start after great work from Amad Diallo led to Marcus Rashford prodding home the opener within two minutes.

Sadly, things didn’t really get much better for United as Ipswich drew themselves level and could have won the match if it weren’t for the heroics of Andre Onana.

Many United fans were left disappointed that more players did not try and put on more of a show in Amorim’s first match in charge and were left with a familiar sinking feeling that was all too common under previous manager, Erik ten Hag.

The draw left United in 12th place in the Premier League standings after 12 matches, with a goal difference of exactly zero.

Roy Keane was certainly far from impressed with what he saw and while speaking to Sky Sports he lambasted the current state of the club.

“Man United, at this moment in time whatever the problems are, are an average Premier League team.”

Keane then elaborated on the task in hand for the new head coach and claimed, “so many teams are way ahead of them. There’s a long way to go for this United team.”

“Huge job for the manager, huge job. And, again, we keep saying it but listen, hopefully they get it sorted.”

The Irishman continued his pessimistic view of the playing squad by asserting, “you still have the same players out there. The same problems. We talk about leopards and spots, the issue with United over the last couple of years. Lack off goals, lack of quality.”

The former captain also claimed that this current side have basically no chance of making the top four as there is “no evidence” that they just won’t keep repeating the same mistakes over and over again.

The Red Devils now have two home matches to show Amorim what they are made of with Thursday’s home tie versus FK Bodø/Glimt in the Europa League and then another game at Old Trafford at home to Everton.
