Ex-Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is “serious option” to become manager of RB Leipzig – Man United News And Transfer News

Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has attracted “serious” interest from RB Leipzig, as per Fichajes.

Ten Hag arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2022 amid much fanfare, having impressed top clubs across Europe with his prolific stint at Ajax.

The Amsterdam giants played a progressive, possession-based style of football under him and won multiple domestic trophies. Their record in Europe was equally impressive, and eventually led to United placing their trust in the Dutchman.

The 54-year-old did well in his maiden season at United, but progressively his side became worse and by the end of his reign, the Red Devils found themselves in a crisis, devoid of any identity.

However, his spell in England has seemingly done little to harm the reputation he earned at Ajax, with top clubs still considering the Dutch tactician as their next potential manager.

In October, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Borussia Dortmund are interested in the ex-United boss. Now, it is being suggested another German club have joined the race for his signature.

According to Fichajes, Ten Hag “could be on the verge of a career-changing move” as he is now a “serious option” to become RB Leipzig’s manager.

The Bundesliga outfit have struggled under Marco Rose this season, failing to meet the expectations the talented crop of players had generated before the start of the campaign.

Their form in the Champions League, in particular, has raised doubts over Rose’s long-term future in Leipzig.

The German giants have lost all five of their matches in the competition’s group phase.

The Spanish outlet reports that this has led to the club’s management to “consider a restructuring” and Ten Hag’s name stands out in this regard, owing to his experience of building solid projects with young players.

Not only Ten Hag has the experience of managing at the highest level, he also has previously worked in Germany with Bayern Munich II, making him an “ideal candidate” for the big role at Leipzig, who are supposedly capable of providing him with the right environment to implement his ideas.
