Matheus Cunha has been one of the most in-form forwards in the Premier League this season and he has since been linked with a move to Manchester United
Wolves are set to offer Manchester United target Matheus Cunha a lucrative new contract. The Brazilian, who has been linked with a move to United, has been in fine form this season, scoring seven goals and adding three assists in 12 matches.
Cunha, 25, has two-and-a-half years on his contract having joined Wolves, initially on loan from Atletico Madrid, in January 2023. However, there has been speculation over his future with United ‘monitoring’ his situation following his excellent start to the campaign.
A number of other teams are expected to be interested in Cunha, but Wolves are trying their best to keep him. According to The Telegraph, the West Midlands club are set to initiate talks over improved terms and want to convince him to stay at Molineux long-term.

It comes as Gary O’Neil addressed Cunha’s future in his pre-Bournemouth press conference and claimed that their talisman “definitely won’t leave” the club in January. He didn’t, however, confirmed whether he might depart in move at the end of the season.
“Matheus definitely won’t leave in January,” O’Neil said. “Definitely not. Mine and Matheus’ relationship and his understanding of what we’re trying to do here is exceptionally good.
“I don’t foresee there being any problems at all in January with Matheus Cunha contract-wise. But I’ll leave that to the club. We have a real focus, Matheus included, on tomorrow’s game and making sure we’re in the best shape to beat Bournemouth, then the contract staff will obviously be handled by the football club.”
Meanwhile, Cunha has previously spoken about links to United. He said: “You know it’s a real honour to have your name linked to Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world. But I’m happy at Wolves. If I’m lucky, I’ll play another good season, but the window is open, you never know.”
As for United, Ruben Amorim won his first game as their new head coach on Thursday as they scraped past Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League. Rasmus Hojlund scored twice, while Alejandro Garnacho grabbed the other as United moved up to 12th in the new league format.
