Dwight Yorke backs Man United return for “sensational” Paul Pogba – Man United News And Transfer News

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has urged the club to re-sign Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman left the club in 2022 after playing 226 times over two spells.

He rejoined Juventus but had a terrible time in Italy that was marred by injury and controversy.

Pogba was banned for four years after taking an illegal substance but finally got his punishment reduced to 18 months after appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Therefore, he is now available to sign for a club and train from January with his return to official matches pencilled in for March.

The World Cup winner has been linked to a plethora of teams but former treble winner, Dwight Yorke, feels United should bring him home for a third time.

Speaking to sportslens.com, Yorke asserted “Paul Pogba is better than what we have, that’s for sure.”

Nonetheless, the Trinidad and Tobago manager did admit that United fans might need some serious convincing to support a return to Old Trafford.

“Whether the fans will welcome him back and make life easy for him, I don’t know, that could be the problem he faces.”

Yorke claimed that a fit and firing Pogba would certainly add value to Ruben Amorim’s team and he described him as “a sensational player; he’s a really good talent. He offers that little bit of an X-factor by being there. He does things that no other players can do.”

The former striker claimed that were he the decision maker at United, he would consider the Frenchman’s return as he will “have a point to prove”.

“I would really consider it. Why would you not? When you look at what we have in midfield, Pogba coming into that would instantly improve things.”

Yorke echoes the sentiment of fellow former United forward, Louis Saha, who has also backed a return to Manchester for the 31 year old and claims he has heard rumours this may be in the works.

United will certainly need additions in the midfield with the Casemiro and Christian Eriksen likely to depart in the summer. But whether or not he is the profile of player the club or Ruben Amorim is looking for is an entirely different question.
