Ian Wright launches passionate defence of Marcus Rashford against critics “desperate” to see him fail – Man United News And Transfer News

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has launched a passionate and public defence of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, insisting that they are people eager to see him fail.

Rashford has dominated headlines over the past few days, amidst suggestions that United are prepared to sell him either in the January transfer window or in the summer.

It has been suggested that Rashford has failed to impress Ruben Amorim and there is a belief his time at Old Trafford is finally up.

The England international has been axed from United’s last two matchday squads against Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup.

Earlier this week, Rashford spoke to journalist Henry Winter and revealed that he is open to leaving his boyhood club in search of a fresh challenge.

It’s understood that the 27-year-old’s options are very limited due to his hefty wages and declining performances.

As United slipped to a 4-3 loss to Spurs on Thursday evening, some travelling supporters revealed a banner which read, “Excuses. Ta ra, Marcus,” hinting that they were happy to see him part ways with the club in the near future.

His uncertain situation at United and future prospects have sparked a lot of debate within the media and the fanbase.

Amidst all this, Wright swung to Rashford’s defence. The former Arsenal striker wrote on Instagram, “I got to Arsenal at 28, but you expect ME to write off someone with the ability Marcus has at 27!!!!”

“So many of you are desperate to see these young people fail so that you can say you were right!”

Wright added, “You would take one per cent of the career Marcus has had!”

Reacting to Wright’s comments, ex-United star Jadon Sancho extended his support via X.

Carrington academy graduate Timothy Fosu-Mensah also posted in support of Rashford.

It is yet to be determined if Amorim will include Rashford in the matchday squad for Sunday’s game, as United prepare to take on Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
