Manchester United expected to be offered Lille’s sensational striker Jonathan David – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are set to be handed an opportunity to sign the prolific Jonathan David, as per reports.

The Lille star has been one of the best forwards in Europe over the last 18 months or so. This season alone, the Canadian has bagged 17 goals and assisted five times across all competitions.

However, Lille are bound to lose their talisman, who has entered the final months of his contract at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

The 24-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of the current campaign and is now free to hold negotiations with teams outside France over a summer move.

Amid this, GIVEMESPORT are reporting that United are “expected” to be offered David, as they look to strengthen their attack under Ruben Amorim.

With Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failing to consistently put the ball in the back of the net, United could jump into the transfer market for another striker.

With the Canada international’s contract running out, a move for him could be “ideal” for the Red Devils, who aren’t in a strong position to splurge big on another attacker.

Hence, they may “swoop” to hand their new gaffer an experienced player “on the cheap.”

David has the movement and finishing ability to lead Amorim’s frontline. He has more league goals (11) than Hojlund (2), Zirkzee (3), and Marcus Rashford (4) combined.

However, the Mancunians may face competition from West Ham United, as they have also been reportedly handed the chance to sign David.

David’s arrival should also push Zirkzee further down the pecking order. The Dutchman is said to have a difficult relationship with Amorim.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the tension between the ex-Bologna striker and the Portuguese tactician has prompted the United hierarchy to consider an early exit of their summer signing, who has attracted interest from Juventus.
