Marcus Rashford’s future has continued to dominate headlines for the best part of a month with Manchester United desperate to move him on this window.
Despite AC Milan‘s overtures, the Mancunian’s heart seems to be set on a move to Barcelona with their coach Hansi Flick a big admirer of the United No 10.
However, owing to La Liga’s 1:1 rule, the Catalan giants can only afford a deal for the Englishman should they manage to make space for him in the squad.
As previously relayed on The Peoples Person, Ansu Fati’s reluctance to depart Camp Nou was holding up the move despite the forward agreeing personal terms.
Meeting between Rashford and Barca
Borussia Dortmund are intensifying their interest in the Carrington graduate and as a result, La Liga club are trying to hurry up proceedings.
As revealed by SPORT, Rashford’s camp and Barca officials met in Lisbon, where Barcelona are due to face Benfica in the Champions League, with the England international’s agent making it clear that Rashford would prefer an early resolution as he is desperate to play football again.
Barca are trying to move on Eric Garcia with Girona interested but until and unless the transfer goes through, Rashford’s future could remain in limbo.
Which is why he has informed the Spanish giants that if they cannot agree on an exit in the coming days, Rashford will look at alternate options.
“According to this newspaper, there was a meeting in Lisbon on Tuesday between Barça and the Manchester United striker’s agents.
Rashford wants Barca to hurry
“Although the British player’s preference is to end up at Barça – the truth is that Marcus is beginning to be in a hurry to resolve his situation.
“This means that if the Blaugrana club cannot arrange an exit in the next few days, the attacker will activate other options.”
Alternate options include moving to Dortmund while staying at United for the rest of the season has also not been ruled out.
Ruben Amorim might not afford too many chances to Rashford should he stay and United would prefer an exit so that the player can regain his form and maximise his transfer value, all of which would constitute pure profit.
