Video: Cheltenham boss seems to aim subtle dig at Ruben Amorim after Ethan Williams’ attacking heroics – Man United News And Transfer News

Cheltenham manager Michael Flynn seemingly fired a dig at his Manchester United counterpart Ruben Amorim, following Ethan Williams’ sensational performance against Newport County on Saturday afternoon.

Williams scored a wonderful goal and registered an assist to inspire Cheltenham to a 3-0 victory at Rodney Parade.

The win saw Cheltenham complete a league double over Newport, while also ending their seven-game winless away league run in the process.

After being named on the bench in his first four games since departing Old Trafford in January, Williams made his first start for the club last weekend against Barrow and assisted the winning goal in a 3-2 comeback win.

His heroics against Newport will certainly bode well for him going forward and it earned him praise from Flynn.

While lauding Williams, Flynn also appeared to take a shot at Amorim, hinting that the Red Devils boss could be making use of the youngster.

It’s no secret that United are struggling in the striker position, with both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggling to consistently come up with the goods.

Flynn said about Williams, “He has quality, which is why he’s at Manchester United.”

“If he carries on the way he is, he’d probably make an impact in their first team at the minute.”

“I am delighted they trust us with him and I’ll do my best to make him as best as we can for the parent club. He’s a great lad, who wants to learn and I am pleased to have him.”

The triumph over Newport left Flynn’s side in 11th position in the League Two standings, just one point below Bromley in 10th.

Cheltenham are back in action on Wednesday when they welcome table leaders Walsall at Whaddon Road.
