Sporting Clube de Portugal striker Viktor Gyokeres has spoken out on his future, admitting he is only thinking about the present, amid links to Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

The forward was in the headlines again on Friday night when he scored his fifth hat-trick of the season in his side’s 3-1 league win over Moreirense. His hat-trick goal came from a stunning free kick in the second half to put his side 3-0 up.

The three goals mean that the former Coventry City striker has scored 47 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions this season. He has also provided 11 assists in that time.

United are one of the teams linked with an interest in the Sweden international this summer. Any move would see the player reunited with former manager Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.

They are, however, not alone in their interest, with Arsenal, who are also on the lookout for striking reinforcements in the window, said to be long-term admirers.

Gyokeres is reported to have a €100 million (£85.7m) release clause in his Sporting contract, but reports claim that the Portuguese club are willing to accept a lower offer. Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that the price is around €65/70 million (£55.7-£60m).

Following his latest hat-trick, Gyokeres was again asked about his future. “My future? No one can predict what will happen, we enjoy the moment,” he told Sport TV Portugal.

He then added: “Agreement with Sporting to lower €100m release clause? Can’t say anything about that.”

United will be keen to add attacking reinforcements to their squad in the summer transfer window. Both Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have struggled for form throughout the season.

As well as Gyokeres, the club have been linked with an interest in Ipswich’s Liam Delap. He will be available for £30 million if, or when Ipswich’s relegation from the Premier League is confirmed, United are however said to face competition from Chelsea for the striker.
