Former Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has been ruled out of the entire season for new club Como 1907 due to injury.
Como have not even registered the 31 year old to play in Serie A, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
Varane left Old Trafford in June as a free agent after the club failed to agree a new contract with him.
The French defender had been one of the clubâs top earners on ÂŁ300,000 a week and did not accept a much-reduced new deal.
Shortly after his departure, he made the surprise move to Serie A club Como, to work under his former La Liga rival Cesc Fabregas.
Fabregas achieved promotion to the Italian top flight in his first year as manager of the club and Varane was âvery excitedâ to be joining a young and ambitious project.
However, his new career has got off to the worst of starts, being ruled out for the entire season after an injury sustained on his debut.
Varane played just 23 minutes of Comoâs Coppa Italia clash with Salernitana on August 11th before being subbed.
Reports stated the problem was with the flexor muscle in his thigh.
The Frenchmanâs illustrious career has been heavily blighted by injuries, especially in recent years.
He was at United for three seasons yet only managed 92 games for the club.
The news of this latest setback will come as a bitter blow to both Varane and the fans of the Serie A side, who could not believe their luck at landing a four-time Champions League winner.
The Peoples Person team wish Rapha a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in action challenging for next seasonâs Scudetto.
