Juventus are plotting a surprise move for Manchester United forward Antony following his loan spell at Real Betis, it has been claimed. The Brazilian joined Real Betis in January and impressed during the second half of the season, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 26 appearances.
His performances not only helped Betis mount a competitive run in La Liga, but also aided their run to the Conference League final, though that ended in a 4-1 defeat against Chelsea.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side want to retain Antony’s services and are expected to initiate talks with United in an attempt to negotiate another loan agreement for the 2025/26 season. It’s reported that Betis are willing to increase their financial commitment to the deal, which would cover a higher portion of his salary.
However, United would prefer an outright sale rather than a temporary move, making the Seville club’s task a little more difficult. His form has attracted attention from wider Europe, meanwhile, with Juventus the latest team to show an interest, as they look to strengthen their squad after securing Champions League qualification.
According to UOL Esporte, Juventus placed Antony on their watchlist earlier in 2025 and are now considering a formal bid. Although Juve finished fourth in Serie A last season, they scored just 58 goals from their 38 league matches – fewer than eighth-place AC Milan – and are keen to add more firepower to their squad.
Speaking after the Conference League final last month, Antony, who has two years left to run of his United contract, issued an update on his future and hinted at another move to Betis. He told CBS Sports: “I don’t what will happen in the future, only God knows. My work is playing and I’m doing that well.
“I have a lot of affection for Betis, for everyone but I have a contract with Man United and I don’t know what’s going to happen. Now I will go to the national team and then on holiday then we will see what happens in the future. I’m very happy here, everyone knows that but I have a contract.”
Manchester Evening News understands that United are prioritising sales in the summer transfer window and Antony is someone they hope to offload on a permanent basis. It’s understood he will be available for £32.5m – almost a third of the £85m United paid to sign Antony from Ajax three years ago.
