Ruben Amorim’s team selection for Manchester United’s opening Premier League game against Arsenal was a clear indicator that Rasmus Hojlund was not part of his plans for the upcoming season.
The Dane was not even named in the matchday squad, while in the last pre-season friendly, the head coach opted against handing him any minutes.
The 22-year-old, who was desperate to stay and fight for his place, despite Benjamin Sesko’s arrival, is clearly being pushed out.
AC Milan remain in pole position, but as of now, due to his desire for a permanent exit or at least a loan with an obligation, a move has not materialised.
Rasmus Hojlund likely to depart
Other Serie A teams, including Napoli are also lurking, while Premier League clubs such as Newcastle and Fulham are also monitoring proceedings with interest.
Surprisingly, TBR Football have claimed that the Denmark international’s former club, Atalanta have also expressed their interest in their former star.
They have enquired about the possibility of landing him, but as of now, Rodrigo Muniz of Fulham seems to be their top choice.
Atalanta eyeing former star
“We can also confirm that Hojlund’s former club Atalanta have made enquiries, should they fail to land Rodrigo Muniz – but they are hopeful of signing Fulham’s Brazilian.”
The Athletic have confirmed this development.
“Atalanta have also considered bringing him back to Bergamo,” they wrote.
It will be interesting to see where he lands up, and whether this increased interest actually leads to INEOS earning more than his book value.
As things stand, the co-owners are likely to incur a loss, but still, they remain keen to move him on.
