Brentford are understood to be keen on a fee in excess of £63m. It’s believed that the Londoners have wanted to get more from United than the £62.5m paid for Matheus Cunha earlier in the window.
Another problem that United’s negotiators are contending with is the transfers happening around them. The Standard have claimed that other valuations in the market have encouraged Brentford to stand firm on their stance.
Chelsea are said to value Arsenal target Noni Madueke past the £50m mark, significantly more than the £29m they paid for him in 2023. Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Wednesday that the Gunners will hold talks with London rivals soon to discuss a deal with personal terms already agreed.
Newcastle United’s imminent £55m signing of Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest is another deal that has left United unstuck. It’s understood that the valuations of certain players has left the Bees confident in receiving the fee they want for Mbeumo.
