De Ligt, Mount, Dorgu – Man United injury news and return dates after West Ham

Manchester United will now have just under two weeks to prepare for their next Premier League game against Everton following their draw against West Ham

Manchester United stretched their unbeaten run alive under Michael Carrick on Tuesday night as Benjamin Sesko’s injury-time equaliser rescued a point at West Ham United.

Tomas Soucek put the Hammers ahead after half-time, before Casemiro had a goal ruled out; it looked like United were going to suffer a first defeat under Carrick. But Sesko’s smart finish inside the box keeps United in the top four.

United will now wait until February 23 to play again, as they are out of the FA Cup. They travel to Everton in the next round of the Premier League fixtures, giving some of their injured players time to recover. Here, the MEN breaks down all of the latest injury news surrounding Manchester United, as well as player return dates…

Patrick Dorgu

Dorgu has been out with a thigh injury since the 3-2 win over Arsenal at the end of January. After scoring two key goals against Manchester City and the Gunners, the 21-year-old has been forced to watch the last three games on the sidelines.

“We’re working through it. It’ll definitely be a number of weeks. It will be a considerable period of time,” Carrick said. “He’s not going to be back in the next two or three weeks. To be more exact is a little bit difficult, at this moment. It could possibly be [10 weeks], we’re working through it.

“Certainly, we’re looking forward to getting him back as quickly as we can and getting on the pitch long before the end of the season.”

Potential return date: Late February to March.

Harry Maguire

Maguire started at West Ham but seemed to suffer a hamstring injury in the first-half when he stretched to block Crysencio Summerville. He continued and was later replaced by Leny Yoro in the 68th minute.

He seemed OK on the bench as he watched on.

Mason Mount

The game at the London Stadium came too soon for Mount but he is in contention to be back for the trip to Everton. The midfielder has been out with a minor injury since before the Fulham game and has missed the last three games.

“Mason will be probably not for Tuesday, probably after, but definitely going into the Everton game he’ll be back,” said Carrick prior to Tuesday’s game.

Potential return date: Tuesday, February 23 vs Everton (A).

Matthijs De Ligt

Matthijs De Ligt has missed the last 15 matches as a result of a back problem, with Carrick hinting that he could return when they travel to Everton in less than two weeks.

Speaking on Monday, Carrick said of the centre-half: “Matthijs, we’ll see how he develops, the Everton game feels like a long time away at the moment, so we’ll see how he develops, but he’s positive, he’s moving in the right direction, but Mason’s a little bit closer than him.”

Potential return date: Late February.
