- United’s first signing of the summer transfer window is expected to be Atalanta midfielder Ederson.
- While no official announcement has been made, United have agreed a £35m move for the midfielder with a further £3.8m in add-ons.
- The midfielder has agreed a four-year deal with the Reds to leave little doubt that this move will happen.
- However, a lack of an official announcement led to claims in Brazil that the deal for Ederson had collapsed and he would no longer be moving to Old Trafford.
- This is not the case. An official announcement has not been made because the player received a late call-up to the Brazil national team following an injury to fellow midfielder Wesley.
- As such, Ederson has not been available to complete his medical for United due to his commitments with Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
- Following Brazil’s 2-1 defeat to Norway in the World Cup round of 16 on Sunday, the opportunity is there for Ederson to complete his medical.
- But Ederson will take a short break and it is unknown when his medical will take place.
- There was an expectation that Ederson would be announced as a United player in early July before he was called up to the World Cup.
