In completing his return to France, Pogba ended a nightmare two years after failing a drug test, which led to a four-year ban which was reduced to 18 months upon appeal. The World Cup-winner is set to make his return to competitive football after last featuring for Juventus in August 2023.
The midfielder’s ban concluded back in March but, since then, he has been building his fitness ahead of a return to professional football – documenting it throughout on his social media channels.
AS Monaco posted a series of pictures and videos from the 32-year-old completing his move and among them was an emotional video where Pogba was visibly upset.
The video begins with Pogba’s head bowed into his arm then holding back tears as he puts pen-to-paper.
When he finally signs along the dotted line, he bows his head, again, and is consoled by one of his representatives and AS Monaco sporting director Thiago Scuro.

He says: “Take your time, it’s beautiful to be here, to share this with you.
“Thank you from our side, special for you and special for us.”
Pogba responds: “Thank you, I appreciate that.”
Scuro continued: “It’s just the first step, let’s look ahead, all the conditions are here and you are in the right place with the right people.”
“Thanks for the trust,” the Frenchman added.
Pogba’s football career was plunged into uncertainty as he returned a positive test for the prohibited substance DHEA. The sentence was reduced after it was found – on review – that Pogba did not take the banned substance purposefully.
Since then, he has been linked with a move to the MLS, Saudi Arabia and Turkey before completing a return back to France – where he will play in Ligue 1 for the first time after leaving Le Havre for United’s academy.
