Final push: Serie A director lands in UK today to close deal for wantaway United forward – report

AS Roma have not given up on the Jadon Sancho deal, with the latest reports from Italy claiming they are making one final push to get it over the line.

Over the weekend, Roma sporting director Frederic Massara hinted that the club may have cooled their interest, citing Sancho’s apparent lack of motivation to move to the Stadio Olimpico.

However, while Massara made those worrying claims, head coach Gian Piero Gasperini offered a more promising and conflicting take.

Gasperini, reportedly a huge admirer of Sancho, stated that the winger has not said yes to Roma, but crucially, he has not said no either.

With the 83-app United player yet to entirely reject the Giallorossi, and despite not showing apparent enthusiasm, Roma appear to be holding out hope they can still sway him.

That is why, according to Football Italia’s Alfredo Pedulla, Roma’s sporting director has jetted into the UK to meet with Sancho and try to secure his green light.

While Sancho is the main focus of the trip, Chelsea’s Tyrique George, who shares the same agent as Sancho, is also reportedly on the agenda.

George is apparently viewed as Sancho’s transfer alternative. Pedulla explains:

“The connection between the two players is enough to push Massara to fly out and have those meetings in person, hoping to resolve the situation one way or another.”

The final push

Regarding the move, Pedulla also claims:

“[Sancho] His delays are starting to irritate Roma staff, but they are going to try one more time in person with Massara to convince him to accept, knowing full well that Manchester United are just as eager to get him off their books and will push too.”

INEOS will be hoping these talks finally prompt Sancho to say yes to a move to Roma.

One way or another, Massara is expected to leave the UK with a left winger for Gasperini, and United fans will be hoping this winger is precisely who they think it is, to deliver a perfect end to the Sancho saga.

Many had high hopes for Sancho when he signed with United, but he never truly delivered. His attitude repeatedly drew criticism and played a significant role in his struggles at Old Trafford.

If the move to Roma goes through, it could hand him a fresh start, a chance to unlock his potential and finally turn his fortunes around.
