Manchester United Women’s hattrick hero Elisabeth Terland has claimed she is confident about the new season after her side’s impressive performance yesterday.
Dominant display
The Red Devils were on fire as they clinically disposed of PSV Eindhoven 4-0 in Stockholm.
The result means that they now have the chance to enter the Champions League group stage if they can overcome Swedish side Hammarby on Saturday.
Elisabeth Terland comes good
Elisabeth Terland was unlucky during pre-season as she hit the post and missed numerous good chances.
Nonetheless, she turned up in front of goal when it really mattered, grabbing a hattrick versus PSV Eindhoven.
It wasn’t just her goals but her ability to link up with United’s other attackers, especially Ella Toone which was so pleasing.
Speaking to the club’s website after the match she stated, “I think yeah we came here to do the job and put on a good performance.”
Terland claimed that her side were well on top during the entire match and asserted, “we dominated this game fully and we get the result. I get some goals and it is good to get going. It is the first game of a long season, so yeah, just focus on the next game. Yeah, happy with the performance.”
Curse broken
Commenting on her heroics she claimed, “I just said to some of the girls, it has been a two goal curse going on with me. It’s been a while since I have scored a hattrick. I think it’s the sign of hopefully a positive season for myself as well.”
All eyes on Saturday
She was then asked to give her thoughts on how her side will prepare for the huge game on Saturday and she asserted, “now, it is just about resetting and going again.”
She added, “we knew that we needed to do the job in this game. Now we are going to face a difficult challenge going up against a better team. So yeah, we just need to do our preparation well and be prepared for what is coming. We should have good opportunities in that game to do things properly.”
United take on Hammarby at 18.00 BST on Saturday at the 3Arena in Stockholm.
