Manchester United attacker Alejandro Garnacho could be set for a reunion with Erik ten Hag. The Argentinian faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford after being told he can leave the club.

The 20-year-old was linked with a move away last summer, following interest from Chelsea but a deal didn’t materialise. Garnacho looks like he will one of the departures from the Theatre of Dreams before next season after discussions were held over his future in light of his exclusion from the Europa League final starting 11.

According to AS, Bayer Leverkusen are the latest team to register their interest in the winger.

Former United boss Ten Hag has just taken charge of the Bundesliga side following Xabi Alonso’s departure for Real Madrid. The Dutchman will return to the dugout at Die Werkself for the first time since being dismissed at Old Trafford in October.

The outlet has added that the Londoners and Napoli are keen to secure his services, and are among those already bidding for Garnacho.

Aston Villa are also reportedly another club eyeing a move for him but Leverkusen are in now in the hunt to sign the Argentine as they consider Garnacho as a replacement for Florian Wirtz – who is wanted by Premier League rivals, Liverpool.

“I always speak to my players, but the focus now is on the last game,” Ruben Amorim said when speaking about the player’s future ahead of the Europa League final against Tottenham. “I don’t know what is going to happen.

“We have a plan and we prepared for both situations, with Champions League and without.

“We have an idea what type of squad we want, but now we have to focus on the last game and we will have time to address all of those situations.”

The 20-year-old emerged as a substitute in Bilbao but couldn’t inspire a turnaround after Brennan Johnson’s solitary goal.

Garnacho was left angered by his omission from the starting 11 for the ill-fated Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur.

“Up until the final I played every round helping the team and today I play 20 minutes, I don’t know,” Garnacho said.

“The final will influence [my decision] but the whole season, the situation of the club.

“I’m going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens afterwards.”
