Altay Bayindir is expected to take his spot in Ruben Amorim’s starting XI during pre-season but the Turkey international’s future at the club has been in doubt. It’s believed that the goalkeeper’s agent has been at Carrington this week to discuss the £4.3million signing’s future at the club.
United are also in the market for other players and their budget not being at the level of their rivals, players like John Victor from Botafogo have been linked with a move to Manchester. Goal Brazil has reported that United are now ready to sign the Brazilian for his £6million release clause after his Club World Cup performances.
His £40m asking price has meant any potential move is yet to be made but the 32-year-old continues to be linked with the club. Martinez’s name could be a one that United re-consider in the coming weeks after Aston Villa moved closer to finalising an agreement for a new goalkeeper of their own.
The Athletic has reported that Brest’s Marco Bizot is expected to move to Villa Park this summer for a low-cost fee. He’s anticipated to come in as the club’s No.2 but uncertainty over Martinez’s future means Unai Emery now has a short-term fix.
BBC Sport has reported that Bizot is set to arrive to the United Kingdom soon and complete his move to the Premier League side. Personal terms are thought to be a ‘formality’ meaning a deal could be close to completion.
Martinez has addressed his future this summer, suggesting he isn’t sure if he will be staying in the Midlands. “My future? I don’t know,” he said. “I come here to play for the national team, and that’s the only thing that matters to me right now,” he said when away with his national team
“Do I want to move to a new club? The transfer window just opened, so there’s still a long way to go.”
