Manchester United’s second signing of the summer transfer window is getting closer to being completed with Bryan Mbeumo expected to join Matheus Cunha through the door.

The Manchester Evening News understands that a deal to sign the Brentford star is near to being finalised. United submitted a new and improved offer in excess of £60million earlier this week and it’s expected he will become Ruben Amorim’s second signing of the summer.

Mbeumo enjoyed an outstanding season last term with 20 Premier League goals. The 25-year-old enters the final year of his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium, though Brentford have a one-year option to extend his stay until 2027.

It’s hoped that Mbeumo will be signed, sealed and delivered in time to be part of the start of United’s pre-season schedule on July 7. Anticipation over the signing has been building among United supporters and Brentford’s own transfer business offers further encouragement of seeing Mbeumo in red.

The Mirror have reported that the Bees have agreed a deal to sign Feyenoord’s attacking midfielder Antoni Milambo with the transfer expected to progress now the Netherlands Under-21s have crashed out of the U21 European Championships.

A deal worth an initial £17m plus £4.25m in bonuses has been in the works for two months after Thomas Frank, who has now left the club, personally approved the deal. A verbal agreement on personal terms has also been in place for over a month meaning a deal is close to being finalised.

Brentford are seemingly acting swiftly to get new faces through the door before their influx of cash. Alongside Mbeumo and the £60m+ to be received from United, they are also set to receive an estimated £10m plus bonuses from Arsenal for club captain Christian Norgaard.
