Man United ‘plotting £40m raid on Bournemouth’ after Antoine Semenyo disappointment
Manchester United are in the market for new attackers this summer and the number or targets being linked with a move to Old Trafford is growing by the week
Marcus Tavernier is reportedly on Manchester United’s radar
Manchester United’s search for a new left winger in the summer transfer window could see them sign another Premier League star with Bournemouth’s Marcus Tavernier reportedly on their radar.
A different shape under Michael Carrick has meant the position is now an important one and the club are expected to be in the market for a wide left attacker.
MEN Sport understands that RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande is under consideration, but the Daily Mail have claimed that Tavernier is another player on their shortlist
The 26-year-old is said to be joined by Morgan Gibbs-White on United’s summer shortlist. Since helping the Cherries to the Premier League, Tavernier has established himself as a key player at the Vitality Stadium.
This season, he has scored six goals and assisted five, attracting interest from Aston Villa. According to the report, Bournemouth could be open to selling the player in the summer in order to raise funds, with Tavernier expected to cost in excess of £40million.
Tavernier isn’t the first Bournemouth player to be on United’s radar. Antoine Semenyo was admired at Old Trafford last summer, but they opted against a move and instead signed Bryan Mbeumo.
In January, the Ghana international secured a move to Manchester City for around £64million. Since moving to the Etihad Stadium, the attacker has scored seven goals in 12 games.
Alongside a new winger, United are prioritising a central midfielder in the summer.
At least two players could come in to strengthen the position, with Casemiro leaving the club and Manuel Ugarte facing more uncertainty over his future.
