Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood is confident that Carlos Baleba will be joining a ‘bigger’ club soon amid links to Manchester United.
The 21-year-old has emerged as a target for United this summer, with reports elsewhere suggesting that the Reds are in constant talks with Baleba’s camp over his future. It is claimed that United are weighing up whether personal terms for the midfielder would be viable before launching their first bid.
Baleba is understood to be open to the prospect of signing for United, even without Champions League football this term. However, the true test will be to reach an agreement with the Seagulls for his departure.
Brighton are believed to be adamant that Baleba is not for sale this summer. Fabian Hurzeler has already lost Joao Pedro and Pervis Estupinan and the consensus is that the club have shut up shop for outgoings.
However, this does not seem to have deterred United from testing the waters on Baleba. In his Premier League predictions for this season, Sherwood backed the Cameroonian to be the young player of the season.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games this season, an increase of up to 100 more.
Explaining his decision, he also made a confident transfer prediction for the central midfielder. “He had a great second season for Brighton, and he will get better and probably move to a ‘bigger’ club,” Sherwood said.
Should Baleba not sign, Sherwood’s fellow pundit Matt Holland believes the Reds already have a young midfielder who could light up the Premier League.
“Perhaps a left-field choice, given he didn’t play as much as he would have liked last season,” Holland said, referring to Kobbie Mainoo.
“He has such natural ability and I’m a huge fan of his. I expect Man United to be much better this season and that will help him have a bigger impact in the Premier League.”
The summer transfer window is due to shut on Monday, September 1, while United begin their Premier League campaign this weekend at home to Arsenal.
