Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani has already briefed his vision for Manchester United, previously, amid reports that the Glazers are now able to sell the club – in full.
According to The Daily Mail, a clause included in the deal struck up between Ineos and the Glazers, which would allow the American family to sell their entire stake in the club, became active this month.
That report from The Daily Mail has revealed that sources with knowledge of Sheikh Jassim’s 92 Foundation have claimed there’s “zero interest” in acting upon the active clause. It’s said the interest in Qatar has moved elsewhere to “mega projects” in other sporting fields.
Qatar are, currently, attempting to host the 2036 Olympics, with any side projects unlikely to be given the green light. It’s also claimed Sheikh Jassim’s group keenness to buy a leading club in Europe is no longer on their agenda.
“The bid plans to return the club to its former glories,” they said. “The bid will be completely debt free, via Sheikh Jassim’s Nine Two Foundation, which will look to invest in the football teams, the training centre, the stadium and wider infrastructure, the fan experience and the communities the club supports.
“The vision of the bid is for Manchester United to be renowned for footballing excellence, and regarded as the greatest football club in the world.”
